The Problem:
I believe if there is a way to help individuals detect what health risks they are most likely to have, or to properly check symptoms at the ease of their own capabilities inside their home, it would encourage people to think more carefully about their health and increase their overall wellbeing. They would also be more likely to visit a proper health centre if they receive reliable information about their symptoms, and be encouraged to go to the doctors.
There are many instances around the world where an individual may show signs of a possible illness, but fails to detect it, or due to negligence, does not seek help from a professional. This could be caused by the fact that people are not often educated about all the possible symptoms of a health concern, nor do they know about how ‘at risk’ they are of certain problems that are inherited through their ancestors. Because of this, manyhealth problems are ignored or detected only when it’s too late, and at that stage, major consequences such as death may be imminent.

Homepage
The homepage is where you can view others’ new posts and photos whenever there is an update. It’s a horizontal scroll format, instead of the vertical scroll format, which runs a risk of mimicking the addictive "doomscrolling" pattern of social media.
You can also see a quick view of your family tree, which has a separate page in itself. This is one of the main features of this app.
Contacts/Whanau
In the contacts, or "Whanau" page, you can view all your added family members like an address book. You can find names in alphabetical order by scrolling through the sidebar. There is also a search function.
Family Tree
This is the free-scrolling family tree, where the user can view all their contacts in a visual format. This is automatically generated from the user’s info and data, so they don’t have to do it themselves, which can be very tedious.
When a profile is tapped, a small window at the bottom opens to display the actions you can take; call, message, or view their profile.
Messaging Feature & Smart Keyboard
To assist users with difficulty in typing due to muscle weakness or shaky hands, etc., pre-formed messages are available to make contacting your loved ones easier.
You can switch between the regular keyboard and the smart keyboard with this button.
Tap on multiple to create a chain of more than one sentence in a message. These messages are created from your preexisting speech patterns from your keyboard data.
Search
Search symptoms, ask questions, find information and get answers that are actually catered to your needs instead of receiving generalised content. It searches through all the available information that is relevant to your health, catered to your health, based on your own data.
It also searches through other user’s posts to see if they have posted any relevant information. This will likely be more useful to the user since they are either related or have the same health conditions.

Proximity sensor
You can check your temperature using this feature in the settings. Hold the phone on your forehead, the proximity sensor in the phone will detect this and turn off the screen momentarily, so as not disturb the screen by touch

These are the low fidelity wireframes I started with.
Concept + Maori World View
App logo concept:
I connected the concept of a family tree, the “roots” being the main symbol, to be rooted and grounded with your ancestry. Maori ideology of Iwi and Whanau is connected through this.
I also wanted to include the chromosome karyotype charts, so this would relate to my findings on DNA. However, that didn’t work for the final look.
My final logo is a simple tree, which represents the main feature of the family tree.
